Lacuna Scrape

This was made during the Dreamhack Austin Gamejam in 2018. I entered this gamejam by myself and made all assets myself.

It’s made in C# and Unity.

This was the first GameJam I entered by myself and it was great. I hung around in the GameJolt Discord, which were hosting the GameJam and I got to chat with a few others who were also participating in it and got to share ideas with them.

Gameplay

You’re a spaceship and have to defend yourself against the incoming alien invasion. In order to do so you need stronger weapons and new tech. New tech cost money and money can only be gained by labour.

The goal in the game is to destroy meteorites and enemies to gain money, use that money to purchase upgrades for your ship, and ultimately defeat the final boss. There are a number of new technologies scattered around the galaxy which you can use to make your journey easier.

Reflection

I didn’t really challenge myself with the programming aspect, my focus for this project was to create a game within a week which would have a clear finish and would be somewhat fun to play.

This project taught me about the limits you have to make for yourself when participating in a GameJam, and where my limits are at.
